Read here to learn more about the three amazing little boys who have inspired "Team Angel Heart Warriors".

Brody Simpson looks to be the picture of perfect health today at 19 months old. What you wouldn’t tell from looking at him is that he was born premature on May 8, 2015 with many birth anomalies. The first needing immediate attention was a rare congenital heart defect called Shone’s Complex. He was flown by helicopter from Huntsville to Children’s of Alabama at 2 days old where he underwent his first open heart surgery to replace his aorta at 13 days old. He spent a month in the CVICU at Children’s recovering from his first of many surgeries to come over the course of a year. Thanks to the Ronald McDonald House, his parents, Jason and Lacey, never left his side during this time. They are grateful for the many generous donations made to the Ronald McDonald House that made this invaluable resource available to them in their time of need. Help the Simpsons say thank you by joining their team for the Red Shoe Run on January 21, 2017 or donating in order to help keep families together.

Arsen Carter was diagnosed with a complex heart defect at 20 weeks gestation. He made his arrival into the world on July 14, 2016 at UAB. He was then transferred the Children's of Alabama into the CVICU. Arsen was then diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, Complex Single Ventricle, and Heterotaxy. He underwent four open heart surgeries; which included three separate pacemakers. He was then placed on the UNOS Transplant list in hopes to receive a new heart. Arsen's condition worsened and was made inactive on the transplantation list due to renal failure. On November 28, 2016, Arsen went to be with God. His broken heart was then made whole as he took a piece of everyone's with him. The Ronald McDonald house was able to keep his family close to him during the 4 1/2 months he was in the CVICU.

Andrew McNutt is a playful, lively two year old. At 24 weeks, Andrew's parents found out he would be born with a heart condition called truncus arteriosis. This meant Andrew's needing open heart surgery days after birth. Andrew's recovery required a month long stay at Children's Hospital of Alabama. Fortunately for the McNutt family, The Ronald McDonald house is only steps away. Thanks to many, many generous donations, the McNutt family got the rest and support they needed from the Ronald McDonald House family. Now, the McNutt family is hoping you will help them say thanks to the Ronald McDonald house by participating on their team this January 21, 2017.

Join our team!! Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama provides a home away from home for families needing to travel to Birmingham for pediatric care. Did you know it takes $95 to cover a family's stay for one night? Every donation made helps keep families close during a medical crisis. Join my team or donate to help us reach our goal!
